South Korea’s Kolon Group announced on Monday that it launched a new subsidiary, Kolon Spaceworks, a move aimed at consolidating its composite materials business.

Composite materials are advanced lightweight materials made by combining carbon and glass fibers with polymer materials to enhance strength and durability.


Kolon Spaceworks aims to provide products needed in various environments from the sea and land to the sky and outer space, a goal that is reflected in its name. It also will work to overcome the physical limitations of single materials and secure new materials with better durability and rigidity, as well as being better for the environment.

Kolon Spaceworks is ultimately committed to turning previously impossible materials into reality, thus presenting new possibilities for future human living and mobility. Kolon DACC Composite Co. Chief Executive Officer Oh Won-sun and Kolon Corp.‘s Senior Executive Director Ahn Sang-hyun will lead the new company as co-CEOs.
