Hanwha Ocean Co. will showcase its latest marine technologies at a three-day international offshore plant exhibition kicking off on Wednesday in Busan, the South Korean shipbuilder said on Tuesday.

Offshore Korea, held biennially, is the largest marine industry exhibition in Korea, attracting around 15,000 visitors.


This year, 200 companies from 20 countries will take part in the event.

Hanwha Ocean will display its floating production storage and offloading FPSO units, floating liquefied natural gas LNG FPSO units, offshore wind turbine installation vessels WTIV, and a drillship.

The company has secured orders for eight FPSOs to date, with seven of them delivered and the remaining one under construction.

The FPSO on display is the world’s largest unit capable of producing up to 220,000 barrels of oil and 4.4 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.

The accompanying WTIV can transport and install large offshore wind turbines with capacities of 15 megawatts MW or 20 MW and can operate in water depths up to 65 meters.

Hanwha Ocean has received the country’s largest number of orders for four WTIVs.

The drillship on display, featuring an in-house developed design, can drill at depths of up to 12 kilometers in waters as deep as 3.6 km.

Equipped with dual drilling towers, it can reduce operation time by more than 25 percent compared to single-tower setups.

It also incorporates a dynamic positioning system for stable hull anchoring and two blowout preventers for enhanced safety.

Hanwha Ocean has been pursuing transformation into an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation organization EPCIO for floating offshore production facilities and offshore renewable energy.
