BBQ rebrands its Japanese pub Watami to Torimero > 경제기사 | economics

Genesis BBQ Group, South Korea’s largest chicken franchise, announced on Monday that it is rebranding its Japanese pub brand Watami, to Torimero.

In collaboration with Japan’s Watami Group, Watami opened in May 2023 to cater to the growing number of solo drinkers and the new dining culture of enjoying food and drinks in small groups.


Offering specialties like sukiyaki and hot pots, it gained popularity as a solo drinking hotspot among young professionals in Munjeong-dong, southern Seoul.

With the rebranding, BBQ plans to maintain the solo drinking hotspot concept while offering a taste of authentic Japanese snacks and drinks at reasonable prices.
