[Alpha Biz= Kim Sangjin] According to the aviation industry on Wednesday, Flight ZE632, a Boeing 737-8, was scheduled to depart from Naha International Airport in Okinawa at 3:00 PM the previous day but encountered a problem with the air conditioning system before takeoff. As a result, the plane made two return trips to the ramp.
The 133 passengers were kept aboard the plane for nearly four hours before being returned to the terminal to wait.
Eastar Jet completed repairs to the aircraft by 9:00 PM and attempted to take off again at 9:46 PM. However, a new issue with the aircrafts pressurization system was discovered. As a result, the flight returned to Naha Airport, where the cancellation was confirmed.
Eastar Jet provided passengers with hotel accommodations near the airport and offered alternative flights with other airlines departing the same day or refunds.
The aircraft involved will be sent back to Incheon in the afternoon after local parts are replaced.
This aircraft is part of Boeings mid-sized MAX series, which has been involved in safety issues, including an incident in January last year where part of an Alaska Airlines aircrafts fuselage detached, highlighting ongoing concerns about the safety of these planes.
