According to local sources on the 19th, nearly 300 EV fire incidents have been reported in China from August of last year to June of this year. Although there is no official confirmation from the Chinese authorities, industry estimates suggest that such incidents are occurring at a rate of about one per day.
Given Chinas large market for new energy vehicles NEVs, which includes electric vehicles, with sales reaching 10 million units, it is apparent that EV fires are a recurring issue in the country.
Recently, South Korea has also experienced multiple incidents of Mercedes-Benz EV fires, with reports indicating about three cases, two of which resulted in fatalities, according to local sources.
